In recent times, there has been a concerning rise in postoperative complications affecting both clients and professionals in the Body Altering Aesthetics industry. These issues stem from negligent providers, incompetence, and misinformation. Additionally, there is a pressing need to address the widespread lack of regulation in the nonsurgical body contouring sector. The lack of regulation and education wind up creating preventable hospitalizations and taxable fines that are absorbed by state taxpayers.

As an organization committed to promoting safety and improving healthcare standards for clients, CSL Therapy recognizes that legislative action is fundamental to addressing these issues and safeguarding the public. However, they also recognize the importance of collaboration with medical professionals and regulatory bodies like yours in addressing these concerns effectively.

Aside from discussing the mounting list of problems that have gone ignored by a little over a decade inclusive of [but not limited to] client neglect; false advertising regarding the safety and efficacy of machines; underqualified practitioners administering treatments without proper training or accreditation; Insufficient enforcement of existing regulations, allowing for unethical practices to persist unchecked— a current significant area of concern is the education being promoted and allowed by nonmedical professionals within the industry. There is a belief that the expertise of medical professionals, such as yourselves, is essential in ensuring that appropriate standards are upheld in educational practices within the Body Altering Aesthetics industry.

In response to these challenges, CSL Therapy has launched the Advanced Scholastic Trainer (AST) program- Initiative 3 of the Quality Educational Healthcare Reform Initiative. This accreditation program rigorously reviews educational materials and courses within the Body Altering Aesthetics industry to ensure adherence to best practices and standards of care. Since its inception in September 2022, the AST program has been instrumental in raising the bar for education and training in the field.

They are currently in the process of advocating for legislative measures to improve public safety in several states. However, we recognize that legislative change alone is not sufficient. We need the support and collaboration of health departments, boards of physicians, and regulatory bodies across the country to address these pressing issues comprehensively. I hope this letter finds you well. As a concerned constituent, I am pleased to inform you of an important initiative aimed at enhancing the educational standards within the Body Altering Aesthetics industry.

Over the past decade, there has been a noticeable lack of regulation in educational requirements for professionals teaching courses within the realm of Body Altering Aesthetics. This gap has raised concerns regarding the quality of education and its impact on client care and safety.  

To address these concerns and promote higher academic standards, I am advocating this Quality Educational Healthcare Reform (QEHR) Campaign. This campaign requires all professionals teaching courses falling under the aforementioned scopes along the client care continuum to obtain an educator’s license with CSL Therapy, the regulatory organization for the Body Altering Aesthetics industry, and have their classes accredited by the American Council of Body Altering Aesthetics. These classes include (but aren’t limited to):  

• The 3 Educational agency scopes along a client care continuum–
  • Incisional Sciences (teaching professionals to care for clients Day 1-7 after surgery)
  • PostOp-Indur (teaching professionals to care for clients Day 8-Week 8 after surgery)
  • Body Bioengineering (Non Surgical Body Contouring teaching professionals to care for clients who’ve never had surgery OR are at least 8+ weeks past their surgery date)
  • Recovery Homeownership or Private Recovery Care for Plastic Surgery Client

This QEHR initiative aims to reduce instances of medical negligence, malpractice, and incompetence by ensuring that educators possess the necessary knowledge and skills to teach fundamental principles such as theory, body mechanics, hygiene, critical thinking, skillset comprehension, and practical application explanations. In aligning educational standards with industry needs and American Medicine standards, CSL Therapy seeks to elevate the quality of care clients receive and enhance the educational experience of professionals.  

As a state constituent, I am writing to ask for your awareness and endorsement in supporting this initiative. Your partnership in this campaign will direct and shape the future of this emerging medical industry, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients and future healthcare providers.
